Tatum Marshall is a London-based neoclassical guitarist and composer on a mission to reclaim quiet in a chaotic world. In an era of AI-generated music and MIDI loops, Tatum’s work is a return to real human performance and the raw resonance of the nylon guitar. With over 20,000 hours dedicated to his craft, he creates original music that speaks to the soul.
Slower as Everything Speeds Up
Tatum identifies as a 'composer first, and guitarist second'. His latest album Bringing Quiet Back rejects the modern guitar trend of faster and more complex, in favor of patience and emotion.
The album was almost exclusively recorded in one take, and uses minimal editing to ensure a sound that is organic and unpolished.
Despite originating as a percussive fingerstyle guitarist, Tatum moved into neoclassical after becoming tired of the 'skill circus of guitar' - preferring instead to slow down and let the music speak.
